Biografie
De Nederlandse componist, digitale multi-instrumentalist en producer Yves Vroemen heeft eind jaren 2000 een reputatie opgebouwd door het opnieuw uitvinden van easy-listening maar complexe moderne klassieke muziekwerken. Yves is verzadigd van muziekeducatie en heeft een genegenheid gekregen voor verschillende muziekstijlen, van ensembles tot orkesten en koorgroepen, en ontwikkelde een eigentijdse stijl die de invloeden van zijn studies herbergt. Als voormalig percussionist en zanger heeft hij meerdere vaardigheden op het gebied van muziekproductie onder de knie. In samenwerking met Nederlandse artiesten creëerde hij symfonische pop/rockmuziek onder het label Caldwyn & Textiler Music. Zijn latere werk combineerde stijlen van brassbandmuziek, filmmuziek, experimentele akoestische en elektronische muziek tot het brede dynamische bereik tussen minimalisme en bombastisch symfonisch werk, en werkt zelfs voor podiumkunsten zoals opera.
Yves studeerde cum laude af aan de Hogeschool voor Muziek in Utrecht. Zijn afstudeerwerk bevatte genegenheid voor serieuze klassieke muziek, Centraal-Afrikaanse en Zuid-Aziatische invloeden in zijn muziekstijl en het gebruik van adaptief gegenereerde elektronische geluidseffecten, geïnspireerd door de natuur door de samenwerking met een geluidsontwerper, werd voor het eerst gezien. Deze klanken werden zijn persoonlijke muziekkern in combinatie met verhalende programmamuziek als een unieke taal zonder woorden. In 2018 was hij creative director en koordirigent op het Somerlust festival in Amsterdam, waar hij een moderne variant op Puccini’s ‘Nessun Dorma’ dirigeerde vanaf de balkons van de stadsresidentie aan de Amstel. Sinds 2018 heeft Yves een resonerende ambitie om naast infusie-achtige projecten ook moderne opera te produceren in de lijn van zijn werk.
In samenwerking met hike video-bloggers componeerde hij verschillende werken als een muzikale vertaling van sferen naar ongemakkelijke reislocaties over de hele wereld. The greatest place on earth-serie zou een uitgangspunt worden van de moderne 21e-eeuwse filmmuziek als kern van zijn oeuvre. In het album 'Obstacle - a symphonic journey' uit 2021 begon hij met het maken van een reeks filosofische programmamuziekwerken die studies zouden bevatten over milieufilosofie, filosofische antropologie en normatieve wetenschap. 'Obstacle' is geïnspireerd op de hoge percentages mentale problemen en mogelijke depressies tijdens pandemische situaties. In ‘Change - a symphonic journey’ componeerde Yves een filosofisch gedachte-experiment als basis voor de muzikale verhaallijn. Hij raakte geïnspireerd door artikelen over persoonlijke veranderingen in karakter en geest. Het werk bevat een filosofische route in 2twee verschillende podia of acts, geïnspireerd door opera met een korte uitvoering, die het originele werk omvat en een volledige uitvoering, met toevoeging van verschillende werken in een latere release. In ‘Journey - a symphonic hike’ bestudeerde Yves artikelen op het gebied van klimaatveranderende ecosystemen in de bergen tijdens het antropoceen. De muziek op dit album is geïnspireerd door bergbeklimmers die een bergtop in de Zwitserse Alpen beklimmen en de hele reis van dal naar top afleggen. De muziek bevat wisselende sferen in zowel klimaat, weer als hoogteverschillen doorheen het album. Als een later nevenproject zal Yves delen van dit werk uitvoeren als een moderne kijk op klimaatveranderingsactivisme binnen zijn muziek. Het project bevat klassieke solistenpartijen begeleid door een ensemble of een symfonisch orkest in operastijl. In zijn laatste album ‘Revelation - a symphonic journey’ bestudeerde Yves artikelen op het gebied van neurodiversiteit en zelfdiagnostiek op het gebied van autisme en asperger. De muziek bevat ontwikkelingen op persoonlijk niveau die gaan door de psychologische bitterheid van een zelfdiagnose, doorbraak, depressie en het vinden van acceptatie voor openbaring.

Biography
Dutch composer, digital multi-instrumentalist, and producer Yves Vroemen has grown reputation in the late 2000s for reinventing easy-listening yet complex modern classical program music works. Being saturated with music education Yves has grown an affection to several music styles from ensembles to orchestras and choral groups, developing a contemporary style that houses the very influences of his studies. As a former percussionist and vocalist he has mastered multiple music production skills. In collaboration with Dutch artists he created symphonic pop/rock music under the label Caldwyn & Textiler Music. His later work combined styles of brass band music, film music, experimental acoustic and electronic music to the wide dynamic range in between minimalism and bombastic symphonic work, even works for stage arts like opera.
Yves graduated with honors at the university of music in Utrecht, The Netherlands. His graduation work contained affection for serious classical music, central African and south asian influences to his style of music and the use of adaptive generated electronic sound effects inspired by nature through the collaboration with a sound designer was first seen. This sounds became his personal music core in combination with story-line program music as a unique language without words. In 2018 he was creative director and choir conductor at the Somerlust festival in Amsterdam, conducting a modern variation to Puccini’s ‘Nessun Dorma’ from the city residence balconies over the river Amstel. Since 2018 Yves has a resonated ambition to produce modern opera in the line of his work, next to infusion-like projects.
In collaboration with hike video-bloggers he composed several works as a musical translation of ambiences to uneasy to access travel locations around the globe. The greatest place on earth series would become a starting point of modern 21st century film music as a core to his oeuvre. In the 2021 album ‘Obstacle - a symphonic journey’, he started creating a series of philosophic program music works that would contain studies of environmental philosophy, philosophical anthropology and normative science. ‘Obstacle’ is inspired by the high rates of mental distress and potential depression during lockdown pandemic situations. In ‘Change - a symphonic journey’, Yves composed a philosophical thought-experiment as a base of the musical storyline. He got inspired by articles of personal change in character and mind. The work contains a philosophical route in 2two different stages or acts, inspired by opera containing a short performance, covering the original work and a full performance, with adding several works in a later release. In ‘Journey - a symphonic hike’, Yves studied articles on the field of climate changing ecosystems in the mountains during the antropocene. The music to this album was inspired by mountaineers climbing a mountain peak in the Swiss alps, covering the whole journey from valley to peak. The music contains changing ambiances in both climate, weather and changes of height throughout the album. As a later side-project Yves will perform parts from this work as a modern view to climate change activism within his music. The project will contain classical soloist parts accompanied by an ensemble or a symphonic orchestra in opera-style. In his latest album ‘Revelation - a symphonic journey’, Yves studied articles on the field of neurodiversity and self-diagnostics in the field of autism and aspergers. The music contains developments on a personal level going through the psychological bitterness of a self diagnose, breakthrough, depression and finding acceptance to revelation.
