U kent het vast; het sprookje over de kleine zeemeermin van Hans Christiaan Andersen. Het oorspronkelijke verhaal was geen bedtijd verhaaltje. Het door Walt Disney aangepaste verhaal is in mijn ogen iets te zoetsappig.
Dat bracht me op het idee om het verhaal opnieuw te laten verklanken. Dit keer op de manier die beter bij het ruwe en dramatische oorspronkelijke verhaal zou passen.
Sketches of: The Little Mermaid is een muzikaal spel dat voor een 5 koppig ensemble wordt verklankt tot een reis door weer en wind, diepe woeste zeeën en het leven van ene onweerstaanbare prins. Een muziekwerk dat ruw en dramatisch het oorspronkelijke verhaal verklankt enkel door muziek. Wat vind jij? Welke muziek verklankt het verhaal beter?
[EN] You know it; the fairytale about the little mermaid by Hans Christiaan Andersen. The original story was not a bedtime story. The story adapted by Walt Disney is, in my opinion, a bit too sweet.
That gave me the idea to have the musical story re-written. This time in the way that would suit the rough and dramatic original story.
Sketches of: The Little Mermaid is a musical soundscape played by a five musicians light ensemble that is translated into a journey through wind and wind, deep fierce seas and the life of an irresistible prince. A musical work that roughly and dramatically expresses the original story only through music.
